I love old game shows, everyone dressed up and freaked out over the possibility of winning a large prize worth $250. One of my favorites is "What's My Line?" more specifically when the panel has to guess which celebrity has come by for a visit. What's My Line? had EVERYONE on its show at one point or another. Here are a few of my faves:
Lauren Bacall
Fred Astaire
Ava Gardner
Bob Hope
Do you have any favorite game shows, past or present?

I love watching these clips too! It's so much fun seeing these stars act more like themselves. And the panel's hilarious!

ReplyDeleteI loved this show...it was so simple and innocent.
ReplyDeleteMan, Eva looks really old and weathered here...how sad! I choose to remember her as she was in Mogambo with Clark Gable and Grace.
Thanks for sharing these windows into history with us.
I think if I'd been a contestant on this show and took of my blindfold to see Lauren Bacall, I'd probably have fainted! So awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the clip from What's My Line with Salvatore Dali? It's fantastic: he clearly barely knows any English!
What's my favourite game show? It has to be Your Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx! Anything with Groucho in is automatically fantastic! :D
I love seeing these old shows, although in the Uk I dont remember having big stars like that on our Whats my line X
ReplyDeleteWhat's My Line, Concentration, and Jeopardy were my favorites. I think Concentration might have been on when I was home for lunch. (We went home from school to eat lunch.)
ReplyDeletePS: I had forgotten how beautiful the young Lauren Bacall was.
ReplyDeletePPS: Sorry to be a pest, but I knew I was missing a couple other game type shows we used to watch. They were: To Tell the Truth and I've Got a Secret.
ReplyDeleteNever really enjoyed game shows as a younger person, but these were fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteHey lady, I nominated you for an award! It's at my blog :-)
