One of my newest favorite vintage things: swizzle sticks. Do airlines, hotels, bars and restaurants even make these anymore? I've certainly never seen any as cool as some of these:
This group of lovelies I got from the fabulous Art Deco Dame on Etsy.
Then on my latest trip to Sleepy Poet and the ever amazing Kitsch-y Cool Vintage, I got a bag filled with this awesomeness:
Most I'm going to display here and there around the house and those that are not in such great shape will end up glued to something or other. :)
What have you discovered lately?

What a great bunch of swizzles! They're one of the few things I don't actively collect but I do have a very few and they're great. Unfortunately I think they're a thing of the past although I'll bet some of the modern retro-style lounges have them. Nowadays you just get a little plastic straw. Booooorrrriiinnngggg!
ReplyDeleteOMG!! When I was home last summer helping my mom clean out her attic, we found a box FULL of cool swizzle sticks! I snatched them up so they didn't end up in the trash. I may have to blog about mine so you can see them. :-)
ReplyDeletemy grandmother had a HUGE collection of swizzle sticks among other things lol... I wonder what happened to them... haven't seen them in any of the boxes my mom has been dumping at my place. Although I just got a box of gorgeous blue Ball Jars. Got to fill those up with something for sure!
ReplyDeleteholy crap, you weren't kidding about the swizzle sticks! And I love this blog- how the HELL did I not come here before! I am slow! Sorry!
ReplyDeleteOMG, JJ would die at those TWA ones, all airline memorabilia he goes mental for!
ReplyDeleteThese are soooooooooo flippin' cool Maggi!!! I loveeeeee it!! My new fave find is the Creative Imaginations wood veneer paper!!! YUMMY! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
ReplyDeleteMemories! I used to steal swizzel sticks and umberellas from our drinks whenever we went out - I still love the little umberellas. Swizzell sticks in pubs here are boring now - just plain black circles on the top.
ReplyDeleteThese will look so cool dotted about your house Maggi. I think you should do a spotlight on the fab vintageness of your housey bits sometime ;)
These swizzle sticks are awesome! I've never had any before but maybe i should have a look into them, they will look great displayed everywhere. x
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I think these would look great on projects! How fun to have discovered them! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in envy of your collection! too rad.
ReplyDeleteI Dig the lamp posts!! I've almost purchased massive amounts of Tiki and Polynesian themed ones, but have kept myself from doing so (up to this point)
ReplyDeleteHowever... you've got me jonesin' to peruse ebay for some now. You're killin' me with this cool collection of yours! LOL!!
Ohmigosh I adore swizzle sticks! For some reason I always associate them with spring, summer, and barbeques. Loving these!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your swizzles...I have collected tonz also. I have them displayed in my Vintage Vegas Swank Lounge, behind my turquoise vinyl bar...in retro cocktail glasses...whoa, this is probably more than you wanted to read right now.
ReplyDelete...anyway, thanks for sharing the good stuff!
These are awesome, I want some of these. I'm going to start surfing around for them. I think they'd be great to make little fruit kabobs with for lunches :)

Ahhhh, theses bring back memories! Not of my own nights spent swizzling a chipper, colorful plastic stick around a cold drink, but of the minuscule sized home bar my grandparent had, tucked into a itty-bitty corner of their rec room, and the over-sized brandy snifter they used to store their collection of swizzle sticks in on the counter.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post, Maggi honey, thank you very much for the trip down memory lane!
Oodles of hugs,
♥ Jessica
