"Everyday Etiquette"
This week's etiquette lesson comes to us from the chapter entitled:
Let's join our lesson, already in progress...My husband and I are invited to an out-of-town wedding, but he will be unable to go. Would it be correct for my son, a college freshman in school near the city where the wedding will take place, to meet me and go as my escort? -Mrs. W.J.M., Berwyn, Illinois
Yes.
-Geez Amy, don't hurt yourself giving out all this advice.
-I bet it took this lady 3 days to write this letter, just to have Amy answer in about 15 seconds.
-I wonder how excited her son was to leave his first college experience for a weekend of wedding fun with his mom and her friends.

I do hope that she didn't strain herself in writing her response! *lol* I must admit, I -am- a psycho when it comes to etiquette, particularly in thank you notes, so I look forward to the next post! I wrote over 100 thank you notes, all by hand, all over one paragraph long for gifts received when I got married. Like I said, I'm crazy about etiquette. Even though a lot of people don't put much care into writing a thank you note, I had people calling me and telling my mother in law what a nice thank you note I wrote and how surprised they were that I didn't just say "hey, Aunt Belle- thanks for the dishes. They're great!" While everyday etiquette seems like a "duh" moment for us, You might be surprised to see how careless and rude some people can be! Sadly, the world needs books like this, even with the short answers! Keep em comin'!! xoxo

Heh--this was great. I bet the letter writer was the dowager type lady on the Simpsons, where you could play a drinking game by how often she said "I never!"
