In Case of Vintage Emergency, Break Glass

My Mom (of The Vintage Kitchen) is directly responsible for my love (read: addictions) to crafts and everything vintage. I thought I'd share a little bit of both today and would love to say that I made it this but alas, my Mom put this together and I'm lucky enough to have it decorating my house! (Yeah, I pretty much stole it from her after she made it, lol)

A little back story: My Mom loves to collect vintage-y stuff, especially gloves and jewelry. She found these FABULOUS red and white gloves (which came with washing instructions - they are peeking out of the gloves) and made a shadow box of sorts using them and some of her vintage jewelry pieces. (Note: the Chanel box isn't vintage, it's just from my make-up stash, lol)

You have no idea how I am itching to bust the glass and wear those gloves! LOL But I'll restrain myself, this looks too pretty. :P

Have a great weekend everyone!

  7. I think we should have boxes like that on the walls of office buildings with "In Case of Vintage Emergency, Break Glass" in large letters above them!

That would really brighten things up!

  16. Oh my stars, it's too wonderful for words that your mom shares your love of vintage! (I wish my mom was the same way.)

My mother the first one to spawn my love of garage sales when I was little though. She used to take us with her when she'd head out to the local yard sales and made the trips so much fun. She went yard sale shopping to save money and try to find items we couldn't afford otherwise, but in the process I learned not only how to barter (who could say no to a ten year old in pigtails?), but also had a blast looking at all the old treasures people were willing to part with.

Tons of hugs to you and your vintage loving mom alike!!!
